Carrie Bell Ball was born April 21, 1930, in Doyline, Louisiana to Washington and Mae Bell Burks. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Camp Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. E.D. Hodge. Carrie matriculated to the historical Booker T. Washington in Shreveport, LA. On February 16, 1947, Carrie united in holy matrimony to Johnny Ball and they made their home in Houston, Texas. She was an active member of Lyons Unity Missionary Baptist Church where she served under the leadership of the late Rev. O.C. Johnson. Sister Ball served as the chairperson of the Annual Christmas Banquet, Sunday School Teacher, Pastor’s Anniversary Committee Member and Unity Guild Member. In 2001, Sister Ball decided to join a church family closer to her home. This is when she made Brentwood Baptist her church home under the leadership of Dr. Joe Samuel Ratliff. Sister Ball served as a teacher for Faithful Warriors #10 -Adult Sunday School Class, a member of the Love Ministry. Sister Ball remained an active and faithful member until her death. Vibrant and personable, Carrie enjoyed a successful career in cosmetology. As a certified cosmetologist, Carrie enhanced each client’s beauty. Her career took her to places near and far, including as a guest of the late Senator Lloyd Benson to Bill Clinton’s Presidential Inauguration. Carrie enjoyed hosting family and friends. Her home holiday decorations were often marveled by passersby, some were lucky enough to be invited inside to relish in Carrie’s homemade desserts. Vacationing around the world with her sister Ada, brother JB, friends John and Lillie Allen, and Lyons Unity Missionary Baptist Church family members were one of the many highlights of her life. Sister Carrie Ball is preceded in death by her parents: Washington and Mae Bell Burks; husband: Johnny Ball; Sisters: Annie T. Battle-Bertrand, Ada Parish, Velma Richardson and Brother: JB Burks. She leaves to cherish her memory: two sisters: Dorothy Richardson of Doyline, LA; and, Arma Mae Smith of Doyline, LA; the Brentwood Baptist Church family, the Lyons Unity Missionary Baptist Church family, Woodmont Drive family, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
