Carolyn Faye Humphrey was born February 18, 1953, in Tyler, Texas to Hazel Lee Myles and Archie Myles Jr., who preceded her in death. She was raised in Hooks, Texas by her grandmother, Gladys McFarland and grandfather, Jack McFarland, alongside her aunt, Alice McFarland. She attended high school in New Boston, Texas and later attended college at the University of Houston.
Later in life, Carolyn met the love of her life, Richard Humphrey, and married on September 2, 2007, at North Main COGIC in Houston, Texas where they both were active members. However, on November 23, 2007, Richard unfortunately passed away.
Carolyn was employed by various companies throughout her career: Inter-cable (which she helped create), Xerox, ENRON, and retired from Houston Emergency Center.
During her employment with Houston Emergency Center, she held the position of HPD 911 supervisor for dispatch team. She quickly moved up the ladder and became a Training Coordinator where she created training classes, manuals and material which are still being used today. She later retired in January 2016 from Houston Emergency Center and began contract work for Greater Harris County. There she also assisted with creating manuals, policies, police training material, fire and rescue training and training for 911 dispatch teams.
After retirement and working as a contractor, Carolyn moved to Menifee, California with her son and his family in December 2018. She truly loved living in California. It was her home away from home. To stay busy and active after retirement, Carolyn enrolled in Real Estate classes at Keller Williams. In September 2020, she successfully passed the state board and became a Licensed Realtor for Coldwell Banker-Canyon Lake. During her time as a realtor, she met some wonderful clients, colleagues, and realtors.
In Carolyn’s spare time she enjoyed fishing, playing dominos, playing cards, bowling, watching old black and white western movies, Star Trek, Star Wars, trying different cuisines, dancing, traveling, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. Carolyn did not miss a beat as she was always out living her best life and doing it with a smile. She always looked at the glass half full instead of half empty in every aspect of her life.
On April 20, 2022, at 7:00 a.m., the Lord called Carolyn home. She leaves to cherish her memories: Daughter, Krystal Shantell Larry of Houston, Texas; Son, Donald Allen Larry Jr (Tamia Upson-Larry) of Menifee, California; Grandchildren Dominique Johnson, Donald Larry III, Alexys Johnson, Jermaya Williams, Haiden Tunwar, Donovan Larry, Esmond Tunwar III, Taniyah Larry; Companion, Willie Thompson of Moreno Valley, California; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, colleagues, and friends.
