She was born to Ben and Elsie Pugh of Iowa, LA on August 5, 1938. Faye grew up in Iowa and graduated from Iowa High School, and later from McNeese State University with a Business Degree. She married Henry Decell in 1959, and lived in Baton Rouge before moving to Houston in 1963.
Faye was a doting mother and grandmother who created a loving, inviting home, happily chaperoned the children’s field trips and band events and actively supported their numerous sports activities. After raising her sons, she began her professional work life with positions at the Spring Independent School District, NW Houston Business News, Lea Publishing and A&S Advertising.
Faye spent much of her time involved in community activities and charitable organizations. She was actively involved in the American Heart Association, Give the Kids a Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day Parade, NW Houston Women’s Club, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Go Texan Committee, Red Hat Society, and NW Harris County Chamber of Commerce. Her donated rum cakes and brownies were highly sought after auction items at events supporting local charities.
Faye is preceded in death by her parents Ben and Elsie Pugh, her son Darel Stephen Decell, brother Ben Lewis Pugh and sister Doris Clifton.
Faye is survived by her son Mike Decell and his wife Kim, son Craig Decell, grandson Garrett Decell and his wife Alec, grandson Austin Decell and sister Kathryn Ann Findley. She will also be missed by a loving extended family.
Faye loved spending time with her family and friends, cooking, watching the Aggies or LSU Tigers, taking in an Astros game, following NASCAR, going to the bay, and helping others in countless ways.
