Carolyn F. Chetwynd

She was born to the late Walter “Archie” and Marie Archibald, July 1959, in Halifax Nova Scotia. Carolyn graduated from Halifax West High School and received a BA in Psychology from St. Mary’s University in Halifax. She married Tim Chetwynd in 1983, and they lived together in Halifax, Singapore and Dubai, before relocating to Katy, Texas in 2007.

Carolyn was a figure skater and a figure skating coach until she retired in 2005 and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. She played a significant role in developing figure skating and elevating the sport to an Olympic level in Singapore.

Carolyn was an active member of the Assistance League of Houston. She also cherished the time she spent with her stitching and stained glass groups. Words cannot express our gratitude for the comfort these groups provided through their care and assistance over the past two years. Carolyn often said “I don’t know what we would do without them”.

Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, Tim; their two children, Keegan and Jordan Chetwynd of Houston; brother, Chris “Bud” Archibald and his wife Heather; and sister, Michelle “Mick” Archibald of Halifax. She is predeceased by both of her parents, grandparents and her father-in-law Wilfred Chetwynd.

The family wishes to acknowledge the unwavering support of her team at MD Anderson and the compassion and assistance of Houston Hospice.

A memorial service celebrating her life is to be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 7th of January, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where Deacon Jack Alexander, Liturgy Minister at St. Michael Catholic Church, is to officiate.

Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Grand Foyer.
