She was born in Many, Louisiana, on March 3, 1944 to Jessie Doolan and Luke L. Palermo. Carole was married to Curtis G. Cessford for 62 years.
Her favorite hobby was spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She always made every holiday and birthday special. Carole was a wonderful cook and made the best Thanksgiving dressing, gumbo, lasagna, and meat loaf. She cherished the times she spent in the kitchen with her grandchildren, often sharing recipes with them as she taught them to cook and bake. She loved the Houston Astros and did not like to miss their games on TV. Although she was a Dallas Cowboys fan at heart, she still watched and cheered for the Texans. When she wasn't spending time with her family or in the kitchen, she enjoyed listening to Elvis and eating M&Ms.
Carole never met a stranger and was deeply adored by all. While working for Partners in Building, she grew close to some very special ladies that she loved dearly. She was also a member of the Daughters of Nile and the Eastern Star. Carole had a beautiful and giving heart of gold and would often volunteer her time at the Shrine Hospital by making crafts and sewing. Seeing the smiles she brought to the faces that she created things for brought her such joy.
Carole is preceded in death by her mother Jessie Doolan, father Luke L. Palermo, brothers Raymond Palermo and Luke A. Palmero, and sister Yvonne Deal.
She is survived by her husband Curtis G. Cessford; daughters Carol Thompson (Todd) and Kathryn Riehl (Darrell); grandchildren Ashley Appling (Alan), Taylor Lyng (Robert), Niko Forlini, Nicole Forlini, and Demi Dodge; great-grandchild William Appling; sisters Annette Koonce and Jane Cope, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Not a day will go by that she will not be thought of. She will forever live in our hearts.
A memorial service for Carolyn will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077.
