Carolyn Jean Ballard

She was born July 25, 1936 in Ashtabula, Ohio. Carolyn graduated from St. Petersburg High School.

Carolyn was married to Donald Robert Ballard on April 17, 1954.

She had a career in Real Estate and worked for Cram Mortgage, Western Communications and Ballard Properties. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Eastern Star and Real Estate Association. She had a passion for her family and friends.

Carolyn was survived by her children Linda Guajardo, Sandra and husband Wallace Phillips and Donald and wife Susan Ballard; grandchildren Jennifer Guajardo, Christopher Newby, Johnny Guajardo, Amanda English and husband Andrew, Donald Ballard and wife Chelsa, Dustin Ballard and wife Jenna, Wayne Phillips and wife Katherine, Christy Kyzar and husband Gary, Richard Bennett and wife Jess; great grandchildren Lanie Ballard, Jade Ballard, Dane Ballard, Julie Ballard, Gary Kyzar, Damon Kyzar, Greycen Kyzar, Amber Aleman, Sam Aleman, Waylon Bartholomew, Alexander Bartholomew, Eleanor Bennett, Scout Womack, Louie Phillips, Raymond Newby, Joseph Newby, Angelica Newby and Robert Newby.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Donald (Don) Robert Ballard; daughter Judith Eileen Newby; brother Walter (Bud) Olson; sister Cinda; mother Nadine MacArdle; stepfather Edwin (Mac) MacArdle and granddaughter Cassie Bennett.

Carolyn was wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. During her life she was a teacher's aid, realtor/broker, ran a mortgage company and helped Don establish Ballard Properties and Western Communications. Carolyn loved spending time with family and friends. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Carolyn. She loved to travel and had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities.

Carolyn was a life and very active member of the VFW Auxiliary and served in many offices including President. Additionally she was a member of the Eastern Star.

Serving as pallbearers are Christopher Newby, Johnny Guajardo, Donald Ballard, Dustin Ballard, Wayne Phillips, Raymond Newby, Joseph Newby and Robert Newby.

"A limb has fallen from the family tree that says grieve not for me. Remember the BEST TIMES, the laughter, the song, the good life lived while I was strong."

A visitation for Carolyn will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A celebration of life will occur Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A committal service will occur Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
