Carolina Sanchez Flores

Carolina Sanchez Flores of Houston, Texas passed away on October 28, 2022 at the age of 84. She was born on November 30, 1937 in Karnes City, Texas where she grew up in Kenedy, Texas with her grandparents.

When Mom lived in Galveston, Texas she worked at a Dry Cleaners. When moving to Houston with her husband Joe they agreed that she would be a housewife and care for their children. When dad retired mom opened her own business (Resale Shop) at a Flea Market in Pearland, Texas.

She was actively involved in the Church (part of the Guadalupanas during her time at Our Lady of Sorrows). She enjoyed Baseball with their seven children running from field to field to keep up with all of them. She enjoyed traveling to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play baseball and football as well.

She is proceeded in death by her husband of 47 years Joe Mata Flores, parents Jose and Beatrice Sanchez, grandparents Manuel and Catarina Serenil, brother Ignacio Sanchez. At the age of 17 months her mother passed away. Her grandparents raised her, who had 4 sons who were her uncles who she considered them as her brothers, Isabel Serenil, Toribio Serenil, Jose Serenil, and Leonardo Serenil.

Carolina is survived by her brothers, Bernabe F. Sanchez of Acuff, Texas, and Jose B. Sanchez (spouse Lilly Sanchez) of Ralls, Texas. Her children Raul Sanchez Flores (spouse Tomasa Rodriguez Flores), Rolando Sanchez Flores (spouse Annette Flores), Beatric Carrillo (spouse Jose Guadalupe Carrillo III), Jose Sanchez Flores (spouse Blanca Flores), Maria Theresa Flores, Diana Flores (spouse Daniel Sanchez Hernandez), Andres Morales (spouse Felicia Alexander). She had 25 Grandchildren, 52 Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.

Mom was all about family and enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, shopping, and eating out with them. Mom was a big fan of the Houston Rockets and Houston Astros, we had to watch every game. Mom watched a couple of soap operas and if you would call her during that time she would say “Hello, how are you? Okay, thank you for calling.” She didn’t want to talk to anyone and miss her soap opera.

A visitation for Carolina will be held Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. A rosary service will occur Sunday, November 6, 2022 at 6:00 PM. A final viewing prior to the church will be at 8:45am at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral home, followed with a procession to the church. A funeral mass will occur Monday, November 7, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Resurrection Church, 915 Zoe St, Houston, TX 77020. A committal service will occur Monday, November 7, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
