She was born in Houston to Carolyn Russell Holmes and the late Harry Holmes, Jr. on the 9th of January 1948. Carol attended River Oaks Elementary, Lanier Jr. High and Lamar Sr. High schools. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi when she attended the University of Texas in Austin. She received a degree in education from the University of Houston and went on to teach elementary school in the Spring Branch ISD. Carol and her late husband William Lynn Wolf, Sr. had two beloved children, William Lynn Wolf, Jr. and Delia Wolf Johnson.
Carol brought joy and laughter to all who were blessed to have known her. She enjoyed shopping with friends, traveling with sisters and decorating for the holidays, especially Halloween. Carol loved spending time at her ranch near La Grange with her family, friends and many pets. The greatest joys of her life were her seven grandsons. Despite her initial poor prognosis, she defied the odds and survived 12 years with two types of cancer so that she could enjoy the smiles of each of her boys. "Grammy" was pure sunshine in all of our lives.
Preceded in death by her father and husband, Carol is survived by her mother Carolyn Russell Holmes, her son William Lynn Wolf, Jr. and his wife Sonya of Katy, Texas and their sons Chase and Will Wolf, her daughter Delia Wolf Johnson and her husband Eric of Houston and their sons Holt, Vaughn, Reid, Townes and Beck Johnson, her siblings Ned Holmes, Judy Hutchison, Mary Thompson, Helen Maxson, all of Houston and Laura Gruy of Dallas. Carol was a loving relative to many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Carol was "best friend" to so many.
