Carol Ann West of Dallas, Texas, peacefully passed into the presence of Jesus Christ on November 3, 2023. Her family and friends rejoice that her steadfast faith sustained her, and that she is now whole and healthy in the presence of the Lord.
Carol was born August 20, 1952, in Houston, Texas, and grew up in both Lufkin and Houston. Carol accepted Jesus as her Lord and Saviour at a Billy Graham crusade in Houston in 1965. She graduated magna cum laude from Spring Woods Senior High School in 1970, and then began her professional life as a dental assistant. After a few years, she met the soon-to-be love of her life Ron West at a church event in 1975. They married February 17, 1979 and spent the next 44 years enjoying life as they worked, raised two children, and traveled across the country together. Some of her fondest memories were spent with her family at Horn Creek Family Camp in Colorado.
In addition to her life as a loving wife, mother, and career woman, she enjoyed special memories with friends in various church ministries and Bible studies. Her hobbies included singing and playing guitar—even performing in a singing group called Sunrise.
Carol’s gentle demeanor, easygoing nature, servant-hearted spirit, and Christlike faith will be greatly missed until her family and friends can meet her in heaven.
Carol is welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Virginia Dare and Dess Sublett Cowherd; and her brother James Lee Cowherd.
She will be remembered in spirit by her devoted husband Ronald David West; her daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Jeff Nelson of Dallas; her son and daughter-in-law David and Casey West of Austin; her sisters Sharon Walker of Houston and Debra Badger of San Antonio; her six grandchildren; and numerous other extended family members.
We invite you to join us in celebration of Carol’s life on Monday, November 13th at 10:00 am at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home located at 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079 with a burial to follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Carol’s love for spreading the Gospel to all nations, the family has requested donations be made by check to Prestonwood Baptist Church and in the memo, write “for World Missions Offering, in memory of Carol West.”
