Age 78, died peacefully in the arms of her loving husband and family on the 3rd of May, 2023 at their home in Bunker Hill Village after a long and courageous battle with Ovarian cancer. Carol bravely fought ovarian cancer for nine years while living life to the fullest, as she did in her entire life.
Carol is survived by her husband, Scott Greene; her children, Lori Whitaker and Robert Hall; and stepchildren Paige Koenig, Matthew Greene and Cid Greene; as well as her “Motley Crew” of grandchildren including Ashley and Bailey Wick, Ryan and Madison Hall, Wyatt and Westin Whitaker, Riley, Jackson and Carson Koenig, Emily and Jonathan Greene, and Zoë and Zachary Greene. She is preceded by her sisters; Dolores Burnett and Peggy-Lou Tiger, as well as her parents Emily and Daniel Munson.
Carol was born on June 21,1944 in Ogden Utah to Emily and Daniel Munson and was the youngest of three daughters. From an early age and into early adulthood Carol was raised and brought up a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints, where she was active and finished Seminary. She graduated from Ben Lomond High and went on to attend Weber State College locally, in Ogden. Through her time in the LDS Church Carol found her passion in life: people.
Carol was married to Ronald N Hall in December 1962, and from that union came Lori Jean Whitaker(1963) and Robert Nelson Hall (1967). Carol had a deep burning passion for helping people from all walks of life and in all shapes and sizes and she held a long career as a high level Human Resources Executive working for several companies, Oxirane Chemical, Joske’s Department Store, Dillards, and upon her return to Houston, Builders Square, where she reunited with former colleagues covered a large geographical area. Her strong personal skills and a high degree of integrity served her well over the years. At the height of her career, Carol was a top ranking executive and scored favorable membership with the Society for Human Resources Management for Helping hundreds of people build their careers from the bottom all the way to the top. Her entire life was shaped by her faith in God and her unselfish nature, always caring and helping others. Her love for her brothers and sisters in Christ could also be seen carried out every Sunday morning at Pines Presbyterian Church serving as a Stephen Minister for 15 years, and giving her time to the Churches Vacation Bible School, The Mission of Yahweh, The Women Home, and most recently Fundraising Efforts for The War in Ukraine.
Carol married M. Scott Greene in 1982, Scott’s three children Paige, Matthew, and Cid became a blended family with Lori and Robert. Carol skillfully managed the joined family not without difficulties, but always with fairness and equal treatment for all. Carol was a devoted Mother and a well rounded woman of the world. She thoroughly enjoyed being the wife of an expat and all that came with that but especially, the traveling and the learning of new cultures. Carol lived in Seoul, South Korea for 2 and a half years, before being relocated in 1990 with Scott to Hong Kong, China for 5 and a half years. They stayed in Hong Kong before returning to Houston in 1995. During her time aboard Carol was determined to keep busy while also giving back, often volunteering as a Hospice worker and as the Secretary for the Foreign Community Service’s as well as, The Hun Hei Ladies Organization, supporting orphaned children and in the meantime maintaining a comfortable and inviting home for her foreign family of friends to enjoy. Upon her death Carol had left her mark on a total of over 15 countries around the world.
Carols “Grands” as she famously referred to them, started arriving in 1992 and in 7 years 8 grandchildren arrived, followed later with 5 additional. Carol was always involved with helping in the raising of the grandchildren, often keeping them or taking them on day trips around the city to place like The Houston Children’s Museum, The Houston Zoo, and The Museum of Fine Arts along with Theater Performances such as The Revels of Houston.
Carol was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in March of 2014, she was treated during that time by MD Anderson, a wonderful organization with the leading technology and a great medical team. She bravely fought the cancer until March when her body could no longer be treated. She was a beautiful person inside and out and was a giving and caring person who always helped other people and animals. She will be remembered for her bright and sunny disposition.
Funeral services will be held at 10am on Friday the 19th of May at Pines Presbyterian Church located at 12751 Kimberley L. Houston, TX 77024.
