Carol was born in Des Arc, Arkansas on September 19, 1937, the youngest of six children born to Louie Lester Godair and Jennie Alice Boggan Godair. Her family moved to Carlisle, Arkansas, when she was four years old.
In 1955 Carol graduated from Carlisle High School where she lettered in basketball all four years and took her team to state. She then moved to Houston, Texas, where she met and married the love of her life, James (Jim) Richard Clements. Carol and Jim were married for 42 years when he passed away in 1998.
Above all, Carol valued her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Joyce Colclasure and Lois Lane, and son James Richard (Ricky) Clements. She is survived by her daughter, Carmen Jarl and husband Grady, sons Kyle Clements and Stephen Clements. She was “Grammy” to, Katie Jarl, Ben Jarl and Cameron Clements (Amanda) and Shanda Clements Hamlin (Gary) who were her pride and joy. She has two great-grandchildren, Dalton Clements and Ryelin Hamlin. She is also survived by brothers Gordon Godair, Homer Godair (Jean), and Truman Godair (Alpha); sister-in-laws, Ruth Burton and Ruby Beaver, 19 nieces and nephews, numerous other family and friends, and her beloved dog Suzie.
We want to say thank you to the many doctors, nurses and staff at M.D. Anderson for their excellent care. We are especially grateful to Dr. Pedro Ramirez and his staff for never giving up the fight to beat ovarian cancer.
The celebration of her life will be held at American Heritage Funeral Home located at 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038 on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 1:00pm. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Houston National Cemetery.
Services will be officiated by Bobby Lane, Jr. Pallbearers will be Brett Lane, Jamin Speidel, Stuart Speidel, Toby Morris, Jody Godair and Ben Callison.
