She was born December 20, 1929 in Houston, TX to parents, Luella & Louis Pasche, Jr. Raised in Houston’s First Ward, Carol grew up living above her family’s grocery store. She worked in the store as well as pumped gas. Carol attended Crockett Elementary, Hogg Jr. High, and graduated from Reagan High School in Houston Heights in 1947. After high school she attended the University of Corpus Christi for one year. In 1948, Carol was married to Lewis Carpenter. She worked in a doctor’s office for 20 years where she held the title of “Most Important Person”, as she was the person who billed and collected from insurance companies! Carol then moved on to work in the substitute teacher office for HISD for 7 years. Carol’s was the first voice teachers would hear in the morning if they had to call in sick….or just playing hooky. Some of her hobbies included knitting and crocheting. She would make embroidered pillow cases for Christmas every year, as well as making baby afghans for all of the children in the family. Carol loved playing the piano. She loved to laugh, make others laugh, and just be silly in general. Carol was a devout Christian, and was a charter member of Timbergrove Baptist Church. She was a member of Houston’s First Baptist Church – Loop Campus, and was active there in the Women’s Missionary Union. The missionary work was extremely important for her. When she was no longer able to physically go on mission trips, she made sure to donate so that others could carry on God’s work.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Luella & Louis Pasche, Jr.; brother, Louis Pasche III. She is survived by her children, Linda Levine, Larry Carpenter, and Lolly McGolrick; grandson, Andrew Teets and wife Lisa; great-grandchildren, Alex Teets and Ember Teets; nephew, Louis Pasche IV and wife Jana; numerous family and friends.
