Hi Dad, 
Been a long time since I've been on here, I usually write to you in my journal. I've been asked to put into book form all the pennies from heaven that you have been leaving for us. I was worried at first but then realized it was a great way to honor your legacy. You have many great grand-kids that will never know you personally & hopefully with this book they will get to know you. You were such a great man & I hope I can do you justice & you will approve when finished. I love you & miss you still & want to thank you for all the "Pennies from Heaven" you've sent.

Hi Dad,
Sorry I didnt write on here on your birthday, but there was no way i could have done that without falling to pieces. I went to see you on your birthday, I took you a card and a balloon. It was such a hard day for me. I had several bad days prior to the 2nd because i just didnt want that day to come. But the minute i woke up on that Wednesday morning i began to cry and i didnt stop all day long. It was one of the coldest days we have had all year. I miss you so much dad. So I planned a birthday party for you on Saturday. Me, Larry, Mema, Buddy, Tab, Greg, the boys, Brittney, Chris and Kylee were all there.  It was a beautiful sunny day dad. We had chicken, the fixins and i made your favorite cake dad, german chocolate. Hope you had a good time as well.  Oh and by the way Ricky decided you would enjoy hearing from us all at the same time on your birthday, so at noon our time everyone everywhere was wishing you a happy birthday. I hope you liked that, we plan on doing that every year. Also Kylee released a balloon in hopes it would make it to heaven to you. Almost every day something happens that I want to pick up the phone and call you and then i have to remember i cant. I miss you still so bad, it still hurts so much. I have so much pain in my heart for you. I will see you again one day dad, till then i am sending you a big hug and kiss.

Hey Dad, i just found out about the guest book. I'm glad someone did this and I thank them, who ever it was ,but I'm pretty sure it was Sheila because it is something she would think of first. i was at work on your birthday and told everyone I was working with what we were doing at 12:00 noon. Wishing my dad(Carl) a Happy Birthday! So at noon all the people I work with stopped and wished Carl a happy birthday, Carla"s dad. It was really sweet the way they support me. I had to leave the room because I started to cry. I miss you so much and think about you all the time. On your birthday I had your bracelet that Memaw gave me and a picture of you that I was very proud to show all my friends a picture of my dad. I know your with me all the time because I can feel you with me and I love you for that. I'm not sure I could make it without your help, its been a hard time for me and I guess you know that, thats why your here for me. Thank you so much dad, I love you so much.

Happy Birthday Dad.  Well we all got together so to speak and told you happy birthday earlier. Did you feel our love? I won't be able to pick up my phone & call you today & I really wasn't prepared for that. I just took it for granted that you would always be there. I start my days telling you hello and end them with telling you good night & I love & miss you. It still hurts after all this time, guess it always will. So go enjoy your party with all your family, eat as much cake as you want & just have a really great time. Love you so much

Well dad I dont know how, but I made it thru Christmas without you. I miss you so much. I wish I could say that its easier for me everyday but I cant. I still cry for you everyday. I miss our talks and our visits. I know one day I will see you again. I left your christmas letter in a box at brookside. I try to hear your words telling me to be strong and be happy but you were always the one that made me strong and happy. I love you dad and I miss you as much today as I did the day you left. I will see you again. Oh and by the way, I know you had something to do with why Karen is still here with us, thanks dad.

Hi Dad, Merry Christmas. I still can't believe you won't be here this year. I miss you so much it really hurts sometimes, but I get through it somehow. The pain doesn't really go away it just doesn't hurt as much all the time now. I'm really glad I'm still here to enjoy Christmas with my family, did you have anything to do with that? Sorry I havent wrote to you lately dad but i am sure you understand. Thanks for talking to GOD and letting Karen stay here with us for awhile longer. It has been touch and go for her for a week now. I didnt know how I was going to handle losing you and her so close together. I have cried more in the last 2 and a half months, than I have my entire life. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you and please tell GOD thanks to. I tell him all the time but just in case. Thanks, by the way, there is Christmas tree lighting ceremony saturday night in your honor at Brookside. I will see you then.

Hi Papaw. I have been thinking about you a lot since I was in Houston after you left us. I keep thinking that I should have left a day earlier so that I could have seen you and told you that I love you one more time. I am so sorry that I didn't call more often or bring the family to visit more often. It has been so hard for me being so far away from you and the rest of my family. I just want to talk to you again and hear your voice one more time now. Our time together was way to short and I regret that my children did not get to know their Papaw like I did. Aislynn thinks about you a lot, even though she only met you once. For her being so young when she met you, she remembers you so well and it hurts her that she did not get to see you again. She will randomly start crying sometimes because she misses you, and it brings tears to my eyes every time. That just shows me the power of a child's love for their grandparents, even from hundreds of miles away. And the same goes for me too. I catch myself tearing up when I think about you, but then I think of all the great times that we did get to spend together and it makes me smile. It brings me some comfort to know that when we lost you, Heaven gained an angel and you will always be watching over us and keeping us safe. I miss you so much and I will always love you.

Hi Dad, well today was Veterans Day & I thought of you. You were so proud of your years in the military. I hope you had a great feast of a dinner with all your friends & family. I still say good morning to you every day when I get up, and you come to mind at different moments through the day. I really want to pick up the phone & just hear your voice again, I really miss the sound of your voice. It's been almost 8 weeks since you left us, it just wasn't right, it shouldn't have happened. I know that's not right, but that's how I feel.  I love you so much & I will miss you for the rest of my life. I love you.

I cant believe it is going to be 2 months since you left me. I just want to see your face again. I miss you so much. It doesnt get any easier dad, I dont know how to deal with this. I miss you so much. It still hurts so bad. I was driving to work the other day talking to you and crying and my phone rang. I missed the call but when i looked to see who it was it was from UNKNOWN. Is that what shows up on caller id from HEAVEN? Was it you dad? I go see you on Sundays dad and try to keep you up to date on things. I bought some lights to put out there so it wont be so dark. Oh also, I finally got the mix up of your marker taken care of and it was delivered today. Anyway, I just wanted you to know that I think about you every day and I miss you so much.

Just wanted to tell you again how great it was having you for a father. It's funny because things you said to me growing up that I thought I had no use for are the things I'm remembering now. Just strange little tidbits to use later in life, nothing more, nothing less!!  I hope you knew what you meant to all of your kids, we all loved you in so many ways & now we are all wondering if it was to little to late. Did I tell you often enough how much I love you? I am sorry to learn of your lose. In my mind Carl was Dad. I remember the fried green tomatoes Chocolate gravy and the corn bread in milk, and yes the move to Texas. I remember him walking Lady and Pedro around the block and wearing his old shirts to sleep in.  I hope you find comfort knowing he has found peace and is watching over all of us. Well today was really hard for me dad. As I sit here and cry again or still, not sure which,I wonder if you are ok and if you miss me as much as I miss you. I went and sat beside you today during the same time I held your hand at the hospital exactly one month ago and I just cried and cried. I sat there for so long, I lost track of time. I have your picture everywhere, because I want you with me everyday. I try to think of all the great times we had but it always goes back to missing you so badly. I am sorry I did not get a chance to see you and say hi. I wish I would have had more time to see and talk to you. Fortunately I have some very fond memories of you that will never go away. I'm sorry I couldn't come see you before you went home to the mansion in the sky. I know I will see you again when my room is ready in that mansion. Until then, I will remember you for all my time on this great earth and will always cherish and remember our times we did have together. If I could have said one last thing to you, it would have been I love you and that you were a big impact in my life. More than anyone will know. Hi Dad, I went to see you today and it was as hard to visit you there today as it was the day we left you there 3 weeks ago. I talk to you all the time but it always brings tears with it. Hi Dad.  I can't believe it's been 3 weeks since you've been gone. The pain is still very fresh & I catch myself with tears sliding down my cheeks at the oddest moments.  I almost picked up the phone to call you the other day then realized I couldn't, wow did that hurt. Good morning Dad.  I can't believe yesterday was 2 weeks since you've gone.  Everyone tells me the pain will subside in time but right now I don't think it ever will. I'm not even sure I want it to, hurting keeps me remembering. It seems like everyday I remember something else you said or did. My one consolation is knowing you aren't in pain, you're breathing without any help from a machine & you are up walking every where.  I'll bet you've seen grandma & grandpa. Hi Papaw. I just got home last night from my trip to Houston. When I look at my children, I am overwhelmed with sadness because they will never get to know their Papaw as well as I wanted them to. They will never know first-hand how wonderful you were, but they will still know of you through me. I am so sorry that I could not get there in time to see you one last time and tell you how much I love you. And I am so sorry that you did not get to see Davin. Hey Dad how you doin? That seem to be the way my phone calls to you always started. So heres another one, its been a week since you left us and i know you are in a better place and have no more pain and perfect hearing(no more hearing aids). But it is just as hard now as it was then. I see things and think of you. Memaw gave us our choice of some of your jewerly and guess what i chose, the only ring you had that wasnt gold(you know me and my silver) I wear it proudly, its the one memaw said you got in our cruise to mexico. I know you are looking down and watching over the family that misses and loves you dearly. I am not sure who is luckier, you or the family, as there is so much love and it shows and anyone can see and feel it when they are around the family. It is a blessing to have such a large loving family as yours. You have truly touched several including myself. 
   I think of the rides with you in the truck (18 wheeler), your laugh (loud), white castle runs on poker night, and all the dang coffee that had to be made. The move to houston when the truck caught on fire and us kids had to save charlie (the turtle) as the adults wanted his water to throw on the fire (imagine that), vacation at pauletta's and many more fun times. I remember our first christmas with you and waking up to see presents galore like us 5 kids had never seen before. Then 11, I had no idea why Santa gave that many gifts when he hadn't before, and then someone went and busted my bubble. 
    Rest in peace and please continue to look over your family and guide them to the lord as they continue to grieve and seek comfort until they see you again.

Papa, its so hard to believe that you're really gone. Almost everything I have seen and heard in the past week has triggered memories of you and brought on a wave of tears. But I know that you're sitting with the Lord now and that you are free from pain. I'm so thankful you were here when Noah and Braydon were born. I'm completely heartbroken though knowing that they did not get the chance to know you and love you as much as I do. But I promise that through our stories and pictures of you they will. You were the best grandfather a girl could ask for. I loved spending summers with you and mema and loved seeing your face in the audience at every single one of our dance recitals. You were there for every big event in our lives and we are so grateful for that. I miss you so much!

Dad, it's been a week ago today & the pain is just as fresh. I hear or see something that reminds me of you & it brings on the tears again. The hardest part is I didn't get to tell you good bye & I love you, but I'm pretty sure you knew that. I know you waited as long as you could for us to get here, but just couldn't hold on any longer.
