Carl Winston Lewis was born to Wilma Jean Lewis and Finis Phillips December 28, 1950 in Houston, Texas. Carl spent many of his formative years in Sunnyside, TX. He was a product of both the Royal Independent School District and the Houston Independent School District where he made many lifelong friends. The majority of Carl's working career was spent with the City of Houston where he held several positions within BARC. He retired in 2003. Carl was a very quiet and private man who always had time for his children: Shandra, Carl Jr., Davitra and Dominique. Becoming a grandfather delighted him beyond belief. He would happily claim the children but not the age that went with it. He'd always say that he was a teenaged Grandpa. In 1998 Carl met and fell in love with Dorothy Borden. They married in 2002 and remained devoted companions until his death. Joining his wife and children in celebrating a life well lived, Carl leaves two sisters, Lee Etta Jean Williams (David) and Deanna R. Lewis; one brother, Malverick A. Lewis (Dorothy); a son-in-law, Larry Cooper; two brothers-in-law, Earl L. Davis Jr. and Robert Johnson Jr.; an uncle, Wanna Cecil Lewis; six grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives too numerous to name.
