Carl L. Gilbert

Carl L. Gilbert, 92, was called Home on February 12, 2015. Carl was born June 19, 1922 in Humble, Texas to Walter Raymond and Ida Luro (Harrell) Gilbert. On January 3, 1942 he married the love of his life, Vesta Taylor. Carl served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He retired from Sears after 24 years; but first and foremost, he served the Lord. Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Brothers Dickie and Charles Ray Gilbert and son-in-law Kenneth Brooks. Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Vesta; Daughter Carol (Robert) Hiles; Sons Kerry (Joy), Bruce (Teresa) and Mark (Debbie); nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He also leaves his loving sister, Doris (Sterling) Baker along with sisters-in-law Dorothy and Jeanne Gilbert, Ruby Cunningham, and Geraldine Taylor plus numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, February 15, 2015, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Monday, February 16, 2015, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Chapel, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
