Born in Rochester NewYork, the son of immigrant parents Leonardo and Carmella Angelone, Carl was the 3rd of 4 children. He excelled in school and found his way to success through both schooling and the Army ROTC. Carl was drafted in 1944 and served until 1946 in the US Army infantry receiving the combat badge and 3 battle stars.
He graduated from Syracuse University in 1950 with a BA with honors in mathematics. He participated in the Advanced ROTC receiving a commission as a 2nd Lt. in infantry. In 1951-1952 he returned to military service serving in the 24th infantry division in Japan.
Carl continued his military service in the Army reserves for numerous years.
He and his older brother AJ worked together for over 25 years to build their business, Big State Realty and Insurance. Carl was the numbers man in the business. AJ was the people person with the gift of gab, able to bring the customers in the door. It was AJ who saw the opportunities in Houston in the 50’s and encouraged Carl to come join him.
Carl’s 3 daughters Theresa Patino, Mary Angelone and Annette Angelone survive him today. along with his grandchildren Alicea Najera, Michael Najera, Annamarie Dober, Alois Dober, great grandchildren, niece, nephews and extended family. Carl was a devoted family man, a supportive father and grandfather.
A dedicated member of the Catholic church, Carl spent many hours involved in the church, charitable organizations and clubs. He was a member of both St. Rose of Lima parish, where he was a longtime bible study participant, and All Saints Catholic church where he spent many Sundays as an usher. In later years he was active in both St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church Food Bank and also All Saints Food Bank. He was a member of the Serra Club Houston, receiving the prestigious Metyko Award. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of NW Houston for over 30 years where he served as treasurer and president
