Candace Jo Sauerwein Jones, best known as “Candy” to those who loved her, was a cherished wife, mother, sister, stepmother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. She slipped peacefully from this world on Tuesday, the 9th of January 2024, in Houston, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous week-long battle in the hospital following a tragic accident.
Born on the 11th of December 1950, in Ellensburg, Washington, Candy touched the lives of many through her unwavering dedication to nursing for over 40 years. Her compassionate and caring nature made a profound impact on countless patients and their families. She selflessly devoted her life to serving others, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she cared for.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Candy was a pillar of faith. Her strong belief in God brought comfort to those around her, especially in times of difficulty. We find solace knowing that she is now in the embrace of her Lord and Savior.
Candy (aka Mom, Can, Sis, Nana, Nannie, Mamacita, Mama Jones) created a legacy of love, kindness, and strength that will live on through her family and all those fortunate enough to have known her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard G. Sauerwein and Veda J. (Whiteley) Sauerwein, and her sister, Sherry Blackwell.
She is survived by her loving husband, W. Lin Jones III; two devoted daughters, Carrie Gillard and Rebekah Daniel; two sisters, two brothers, three stepchildren, five children-in-law, and 13 adoring grandchildren, all of whom were the joy of her life.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation from nine until ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 27th of January, in the Sanctuary of Grace Presbyterian Church, 10221 Ella Lee Lane in Houston, where the celebration of Candace’s life is to commence at ten o’clock, officiated by Senior Pastor Julia Leeth. KINDLY NOTE: The family requests that attendees dress in colorful attire in remembrance of Candy’s bright and joyful spirit, and that attendees also consider participating in the blood drive that will be taking place at the church from nine o’clock in the morning until two o’clock in the afternoon on the same day in honor of Candace’s lifelong dedication to helping others.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the Massey Tucker Hall of the church.
May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may the memories of her love and kindness provide comfort to all who knew her during this difficult time.
