Camille exhibited fresh and dried flower arrangements at the Michigan State Fair and earned several award ribbons, she even entered a pie contest and won the Cherry Pie Queen Award. The family moved to Houston in 1977 for her husband’s job transfer, it was hard to leave extended family but was a good opportunity. Camille worked the oncology floor for almost twenty years, she was highly regarded by her coworkers. She lost her husband in 2006 then was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and retired from nursing. She cared deeply for her patients and always wanted to make them laugh.
Camille looked forward to spending time with her granddaughter, Abbey. She shared her love of gardening, cooking, flower arranging and shared her love of butterflies, they raised over a thousand. Camille will most be remembered for her quick wit and dry sense of humor which kept those around her laughing. Lynn and John provided strong love and support and John was her leaning tree. Camille’s health was failing, but her indomitable spirit kept her pushing through the pain. Camille says “Keep love and compassion in your hearts til the end.” She would continually say she had a good life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, teenage son Danny, her Parents Florian and Helen Grajek, her siblings John Grajek and Barbara Schafranek. She is survived by her cherished granddaughter Abbey, devoted daughter Lynn; son-in-law John Harden and a host of relatives and good friends.
