Mr. Munro was born June 10, 1954 in Lafayette, Indiana to William and Grace. Bruce was a long-time resident of Katy, Texas and graduated from Harrison High School in West Lafayette, Indiana in 1972. Bruce graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1976 and retired from the oil and gas pipeline industry after 41 years. He held a Professional Engineer (PE) designation in multiple states. Bruce enjoyed spending time with his family and was described as a friend to all.
Mr. Munro was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his loving partner of many years, Lisa Vannoy; son, Travis Munro, and wife Christina; stepdaughters, Leah and Jennifer Vannoy; brother, Keith Munro; granddaughter Harper Munro; and a host of other family and friends.
Bruce was a loving partner, father, and friend, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He enjoyed coaching his son’s little league teams, Galveston beach, Indy car racing, watching sports, listening to bagpipes and steel drums, and walking his beloved dog Bear. He was a mentor, a comedian, and the calm in the storm.
The Munro and Vannoy family would like to give a special thanks to the MD Anderson Cancer Center doctors and staff who took great care of him in his final days of life.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 30th at 11:00 am at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079.
