Our father, Brian Jaehne, passed away on the 26th of May in Spring, TX surrounded by his family. He was a great dad, pawpaw, and friend. He was always there for people. Our dad was not only kind and thoughtful to others, but loved to make people laugh. At the sound of his laugh, you couldn’t help for a smile to automatically just spread across your face. Some would say you could hear his laugh all the way across his favorite fishing lake, Toledo Bend.
Our dad’s greatest love was fishing, especially in Toledo Bend. Fishing on the lake under the bright full moon was his true happy place. We would be so excited for his “fish frys” after each trip. He also loved watching his movies with the volume up loud. Some of his favorites were Star Wars, Rambo, and John Wayne movies. In addition, our dad loved to play sports and games with his friends. Throughout the years he played softball, volleyball, golf, and bowling. He also enjoyed playing poker on Wednesday nights with his buddies.
Our dad loved his golden retrievers, Ginger and the late Lucy. He loved to throw the ball with them, play with them, and always made sure they were groomed. They were his true companions, always by his side.
Most importantly, our dad loved his family. He loved to be around his family every chance he got. He was the best dad and pawpaw...always making sure that we were taken care of. His main goal in life was to make us happy. His family was most important to him.
Throughout our dad’s life, we saw him as a hard-worker. Whether it was at his job at the ship channel, being a father, or overcoming life’s challenges. He was dedicated to always doing the best he could and we noticed that. He was a strong man, all the way to the end. Even during hospital visits he would keep his spirits up by making jokes with the nurses. He fought hard and was brave throughout the last couple of years. His last wish was to be surrounded by his family. In the end, his wish came true. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family’s and God’s love.
Our dad was born on July 8, 1955 in Burnet, TX to Henry and Doris Jaehne. He is survived by his mother, Doris Jaehne, his daughters, Jennifer Egan and Jessica Rankin, his son-in-laws, Brian Egan and Wes Rankin, his grandchildren, Jacob and Hunter Egan and Jordyn and Scarlett Rankin, and his brothers and sister, Gordon and Robert Jaehne and Annette Sharp. Our dad is joined in heaven by his father, Henry Jaehne, his brother David Jaehne, his best friend Mike Reed, and his beloved dog Lucy.
“We love you Dad. We miss you deeply and we will see you again in heaven one day.”
