Brenda Joyce King was born on October 15, 1954 to the late John Wesley Jones, Sr. and the late Epsie Johnson Jones. She departed this life on Saturday, August 29 2020 at 7:00 am in Houston, Texas.
Brenda was baptized by the late Reverend E.L. Cooper at Loving Four Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisana. She married Glenn (Buster) King and to this union, two children were born.
Brenda graduated from Walter L Cohen High School in New Orleans. She then attended Grambling State University where she received a BS degree in Special Education and Elementary Education.
Upon graduation from Grambling, she returned to New Orleans and began a teaching career. She taught at Beauregard Junior High School, Samuel S. Green Junior High School, and Bethune Elementary School in Special Education. Brenda always had a loving relationship with all her students. She taught in Orleans Parish schools until Katrina when she moved to Houston Texas.
She is preceded in death by both her parents, John and Epsie Jones, two parents, John and Epise Jones, two sisters, Rose Mary Sherman and Ruth Woods; one brother, John Wesley Jones Jr.
She leaves to morn her passing: one daughter, Jasmine King of Houston, Texas; one son, Glenn King Jr. of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Irma Lavergne of Cypress, Texas; Annie Ruth Harris (BJ) of Longview, Texas; two brothers, Glenn Jones (Andrea) of Jacksonville, Florida; Rubin Jones of Houston, Texas, and devoted cousin, Derrick Freeman; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
