Brenda Faye Bailey Hartnett, age 59, born on the 28th of February 1953, in Austin, passed from this life to be with the Lord on Sunday, the 6th of January 2013, in Houston. She was a graduate of Austin High School, in 1971, and obtained her degree in Sociology from St. Edwards University at Austin in 1975. After graduation, Brenda worked for the Texas State Hospital. She married Dalton Dennis Hartnett on the 30th of July 1977, and made their home in Fort Worth, where they had their son, Christopher Dalton Hartnett on the 12th of February 1982. She also worked for the Texas Department of Highways, and later, was a preschool teacher for six years at the Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston. She was also a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Houston.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Chester Bailey; and son, Christopher Dalton Hartnett.Brenda is survived by her husband, Dalton Dennis Hartnett; mother, Katy Bailey; and many cousins. Brenda was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother and friend. She will be deeply missed.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 10th of January, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at seven o’clock.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 11th of January, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 10688 Shadow Wood Drive in Houston, where the Rev. Niall J. Nolan is to officiate.
The Rite of Committal is to follow, via an escorted cortege, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family kindly suggests contributions in the name of Brenda’s son Christopher Hartnett, payable to St. Thomas High School, 4500 Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77007.
