Bonita Doris Brock, age 88, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 24, 2022 at her home in Houston, Texas. She is reunited with her husband of 66 years, Jerry. She leaves three children and their spouses: Brad and Linda Brock, Phil and Lorin Spotts, Todd and Diana Brock, 14 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren, with 4 great-grandbabies on the way!
Bonita, otherwise known as “Bo”, Mom, and “Grammie” was born in Chillicothe, Texas on April 20, 1933 to Faye and Homer Caston. In the summer of 1941 at the young age of 8, Bonita met 11-year-old Jerry Brock at the Chillicothe swimming pool. It was love at first sight. They were sweethearts for almost 80 years.
After graduating from Texas Woman’s University, Bonita married Jerry on April 3, 1954 in Dallas, Texas. Jerry and Bo spent 2 years in Houston and then moved to Beaumont in 1956 when Jerry went to work for Service Painting Company. For the next 50 years, Beaumont was “home” until moving to Houston in 2010.
Bo was a living example of a Proverbs 31 woman, truly excellent in all she did. She was a devoted mother, precious grandmother, a Godly wife, a faithful daughter and a true servant of Christ. Having given her heart to Jesus as a young woman, it was Bo’s greatest desire and truly her life’s work to see others come to know Christ. It was her passion and purpose to teach women about Jesus and to develop within them a hunger and thirst for the word of God. Bo spent years teaching the Bible in Sunday School, Master life, and Bible Study Fellowship. She started a weekly women’s Bible study in her home called “Wellspring” which was attended by hundreds and lasted for 12 years. Bo had a tremendous impact on the lives of women, young and old alike, in Beaumont.
Most of Bo’s activities centered around her family and her church, but she did also enjoy activities such as horse back riding, tennis, oil painting, reading, and traveling with Jerry. Bo and Jerry spent their most precious times at their Whisper Valley Ranch in the Texas Hill Country. Bo loved the ranch because she loved nature and God’s creatures. Bo delighted in the horses and deer that scattered the fields, but also received great joy in the smaller animals at “Bo’s Barnyard” – a petting zoo especially created for her by Jerry.
Bo loved the Lord, his creation, his people and his word. She leaves a legacy of family and faith that will live on forever. Though our hearts are deeply saddened that our “Bo”, our precious Mom and our sweet “Grammie” is no longer with us, we can’t help but greatly rejoice that she is now face to face with her Jesus and once again with her sweetheart, Jerry. OH HAPPY DAY!
