Bobby Leonard Stokes born January 21, 1929 near Garrison Texas, to a loving father and mother Robert and Wilma (Murphy) Stokes-Lunsford, their guidance and care had a great influence on his future, passed away October 13, 2017. He lived a life full of travel and adventure with his wife of 68 years Connie. He was a wonderful husband, father and mentor, always helpful to the people surrounding him.
Bob was inducted into the army on May 16 1952 and served our country during the Korean conflict, he was honorably discharged PFC, April 27 1954. He then enrolled in the U of H School of Business ands Accounting. Bob started Stokes Hardware & Supply with his brother Delton in 1954, he ran the store for 63 years until his passing last week, he always loved to buy, sell and trade starting at an early age and throughout his life. He had a zest for life and was very active in his community, his church and was a long standing active member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. Bob's passion was Stokes Hardware and Real Estate buying and renovation properties.
Bob is survived by his wife Connie; sons Philip D. Stokes and wife Juliann and Bryan L. Stokes (business partner) and wife Rebecca; five grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Wednesday October 18, 2017 at 9:00am with a Celebration of Life Funeral Service starting a 10:00am. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Champion forest Library at 15555 Steubner Airline or to a charityof your choice.
