Bobby Paul Mathews was born on January 5, 1963 at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas to Bobbie Joe Mathews and Carole Sue Walker Mathews. The family lived in Pasadena, Texas and moved to Channelview, Texas in 1966 where Bobby grew up. As a child, Bobby played every sport he could play and loved to fish and hunt with family and friends.
Bobby was preceded in death by his father Bobbie Mathews and his mother Carole Walker Reed, Grandparents JD "Red" & Ruby Walker and HM & Betty Mathews. Bobby is survived by his loving wife Maggie Zhou-Mathews, brothers Scott Mathews and Jeffrey Mathews and their spouses, stepfather Bill Reed, his stepdaughter Molly Sun and her husband Timothy Lee, grandchildren Samuel and Madeline Lee. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces Zachary, Tyler, Elizabeth, Taylor and Timothy Mathews, Uncle Bill Mathews as well as many cousins and relatives.
Bobby completed his B.S. at the University of Houston. On December 1, 1988, he started out his career as a Baytown police officer and achieved the rank of Sergeant prior to resigning June 28, 2002 to pursue higher education by receiving his MBA at the University of Houston Clear Lake. He then became the CEO with the Brazos Community Credit Union for 5 years. Bobby joined Direct Energy 10 years ago working in Compliance, a profession he thoroughly enjoyed. He continued to work in this career in his most recent role as a Senior Compliance Specialist at NRG Energy.
