Bobby Harris was born on April 29, 1946 in Houston, Texas “Teal” as he was often called, was born to the late Joe and Lola Harris. He was the second born of thirteen children.
He attended Crawford Elementary School and Kashmere High School. He was an excellent bass guitar musician and teacher.
Bobby worked for Rice Hotel as a chief cook, he was a Harris County Deputy Sheriff and Houston Independent School District Police Officer. Upon leaving the police force he then pursued his passion as a Barber. He became known as a Master Barber until his health began to fail.
He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, and was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. Al William. Later Bobby moved his membership to Covenant Glen United Methodist under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Robert E. Childress.
Bobby was a loving and devoted father. He was known for his gentle and loving ways. He was very strong, compassionate, supportive, giving and a person that recognize the good qualities in everyone he met.
On September 4, 2021 Bobby Harris transitioned to his eternal home. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Lola Harris; three brothers, James Harris Sr., Roy Harris and Eddie Alexander; two sisters, Bettie Harris and Karen Harris.
He leaves to cherish his memories; A loving devoted special friend of thirteen years Winona Kindred; two daughters, Vivian Thomas and Sonia Evans (Tyrone), from Houston, Texas; one son, Mark Harris (Nicole) from Seattle, Washington; two brothers, Harold McNeil and Allen Harris; six sisters, Ruby Harris, Otha Harris (from Palestine, Texas), Kaye Falk, Faye Jones (Larry), Vernell Murdock (Lynhart Jr) and Vernessa Harris; one Aunt, Delores Harris; five grandchildren, Shanta Montgomery (Ronnie), Angela Gray/Lane (James), Timothy Sells, Broderick Grice and Tyesha Evans; three great grandchildren, Kendrick McClain, Jamya Lane, James Lane Jr. and a host of cousins, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
A visitation for Bobby will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Paradise Funeral Home, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
