Bobby Gerald Dickerson, Sr., also known as B.G. or Choo-Choo, 95, went to his heavenly home on August 30, 2022. He was born on April 12, 1927, in Collin County Texas to Lester Webster Dickerson and Clara Cecil Tucker Dickerson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 30 plus years Patricia Patton Dickerson; brothers Ray Dickerson of El Paso and Myron Dickerson of Abilene, and sister Dorothy Joyce Kissinger (Dickerson) of Weston, Texas.
He is survived by sons Bobby Jr. (Julie), Keith Patton, Ken Patton (Cindy), and daughter Charese Wagner; grandchildren Bobby Dickerson III, Matthew Parks, Nate Dickerson (Lisa) and Heather DeHart-Vasquez (Giovanny); and great-grandchildren Zaden, Rafe, Alexander, Jolie, Parker, C.J., Andrew, and Sebastian; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Betty Dickerson of El Paso; many great friends and his unforgettable, ever faithful (Charese’s sister from another mother) Marilyn Guynn, his caregiver for the last five years.
Bobby graduated from Celina High School in May 1943, where he played 6-man football. He served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II from May 1943 to March 1950. He retired from PTRA Railroad in 1990 after 39 years of service. Bobby was a member of the Mason’s at Park Place Lodge for 65 years.
Some of his favorite things to do were fishing, golfing, playing dominos (42) and watching the Houston Astros. His all-time favorite was watching Westerns, no matter how many times he had seen them before.
Bobby will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Pallbearers: Bobby Dickerson III, Matthew Parks, Nathaniel Dickerson, Zaden Dickerson, Rafe Dickerson and Alexander DeHart. Honorary Pallbearers: Heather DeHart-Vasquez, Jolie Dickerson, Parker DeHart, Carlos DeHart, Andrew Dickerson and Sebastian Parks. Funeral Service will be officiated by Stephen Barnett. Graveside Service will be officiated by Ken Patton.
A visitation for Bobby will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Angels at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM and committal service immediately following.
