Bobby Lynn Burkhalter

Bobby served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Rushmore from 1965-1969 during the Vietnam Era. After the service, Bobby returned to Houston where he served in the Houston Fire Department for almost a dozen years. Bobby then spent many years working as a carpenter. Bobby loved being called by his nicknames, “Dad”, “Daddy”, “Mr. Mom”, and “Pappy”. During the last decade, Bobby enjoyed raising cattle, farming and drinking coffee with the other farmers in Ganado, Texas.

Bobby will be greatly missed by his wife of 43 years, Glenda Nunley Burkhalter; son, Jason Lynn Burkhalter and wife Caroline; daughter, Jennifer Lynne Burkhalter; grandchildren, Brooke and Allison Burkhalter; siblings, James and Mollie; nieces and nephews, Eddie, Karen, Allen, Lissa, Ashley, Tiffany, Jeremy, Seth and extended family and friends.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, H. L. Burkhalter and Dorothy Joyce Burkhalter; sister, Nancy and niece, Kimbra.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Brookside Funeral Home Family Chapel.
