Bobby Joe Brooks was born July 13, 1948 in Ann Arbor Michigan to Will Earl Brooks and Ola C. (Sanders) Hayes. He completed his education at George Washington Carver School in Karnack, Texas in 1968. After graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970 where he received two Bronze medals and returned home with an honorable discharge. After serving his country and, returning home he settled down in Dallas, Texas where he was employed with Loomis Armour. Later, Bobby became Apartment Manager of South Park Apartment Complex. In 1978, Bobby became a member of New Moriah Baptist Church and was baptized under the Pastorage of Rev. Hubert H. Banks where he served as an usher. After moving to Desoto, he united with Kingdom Empowerment Ministry under the leadership of Apostle James Broadnax and served as a deacon until his health began to fail. His past time recreation was watching the Young and the Restless, Bold and the Beautiful. He departed this life on September 8, 2018 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving wife Deborah of Houston; one son, Bobby Brooks Jr. of Dallas, TX; one daughter, Lakietha Brown of West Monroe, LA; one step-daughter Julia Jaquice Bates of Oakland, CA; his mother (whom he loved and adored” Mrs. Ola C (Brooks) Hayes of Marshall, Texas; two brothers, Richard Brooks of Karnack, TX and Herman Brooks of Arlington, TX; three sisters, Debra (Brooks) Franklin of Levelland, TX, Doris Ellison of Lancaster, TX and Waverly Snorton of Marshall, TX; one very special aunt, Mrs. Minnie Hughes of Ypsilanti, MI; three loving granddaughters, Emily Brown, Sy’Naya Brooks, Autumn Brooks and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
