Bob attended Diamond Hill High School in Fort Worth, Texas, where he played football – his favorite sport. After graduation, he attended Texas A&M University where he served in the United States Army (inactive duty). He was honorably discharged and went on to attend Texas Christian University (TCU), where he double majored in Physics and Math.
Bob had three completely different careers spanning his lifetime. His first was as a geophysicist (or as he liked to say – Doodlebuggin’) for many years in the oil exploration business. His second was excelling at sales in the plastic products manufacturing industry. He found his passion in his third and most favorite career at the ripe old age of 79: Teaching junior high schoolers for the CyFair Independent School District. It was his most challenging yet rewarding career he had the pleasure of performing. He taught until he was 84 years old, only stopping due to the effects of Parkinson’s Disease!
Bob’s most fulfilling adventures were those that reached beyond the borders of country, creed, or class, where his selfless spirit of giving to those less fortunate than he became a true testament of humanitarianism. He spent much of his time volunteering at Bear Creek United Methodist Church as well as Bear Creek Assistance Ministries. Bob served for many years at the church as a committed Adult Sunday School teacher, Youth Group Leader, and Confirmation Mentor to countless young hearts and minds! His true passion was working with youth of all ages. In this way, Bob lent his kind and gentle spirit to many lives throughout his own and leaves a legacy of love in all of those who came to know him.
Bob is predeceased by his father, Ahijah Wood Belknap, Jr; his mother, Mattie Myrtle Belknap; his brilliant, oldest son, Curtis Woods Belknap; his caring daughter-in-law, Becky Belknap; his beautiful granddaughter, Hannah; his treasured son-in-law, Mark Plesent; and his vibrant daughter, Leanne Marie Belknap. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Susan Belknap; his extraordinary son, Rodger Belknap; his adoring daughter, Kristen Vickers; and his devoted son-in-law, Aaron Vickers. He is the proud grandfather of four more beautiful grandchildren: Riann (Chris) Havey, Ginny (Nissa) Belknap, Curtis (Alkesta) Belknap, and Alyssa (Ray) Harpin; Eight precious great-grandchildren: Bria, Kate, Andie, Emily, Will, Colton, Addison, and Kade; and eight cherished godchildren.
