

Billye Stevens Halbouty, a longtime Houston resident, well known for her Southern grace and charm, peacefully passed away on Friday, the 21st of August 2015, surrounded by her two daughters, Shyrrel Stevens and Joy Erfurdt, as well as her very loyal caregivers, Liliana Noonan and Julie Jalandoni. She was born the 2nd of February 1928 in Terry, Mississippi.
Billye was preceded in death by her husband, Michel T. Halbouty, an internationally known geoscientist. Together, they traveled all over the world and were well known for their philanthropic, humanitarian and cultural contributions, always giving back to their community. She was also preceded in death by her dear brother, Kenneth R. Harper In addition to her two daughters, Shyrrel and Joy Stevens Erfurdt, both of Houston. Grandson Michel Stevens of Redwood City, California, who lives with his wife, Monique and children Taylor Michel and Kayla Renee Stevens. She was also survived by stepdaughter, Linda Halbouty of Colorado Springs and her children, Michel Hewitt and Meghann Hewitt; Grandson T. Mark Kelly and children Ryan, Kristin and Matty; her devoted sister- in-law, Sara Harper.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 25th of August in the parlor of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
A funeral service will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 26th of August in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons.
A private family burial will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, 6055 South Loop East, Houston, TX 77087-1005.
