Bill graduated from Landry High School and attended McNeese State University. He served in the Army during the Vietnam era. He worked for Southwestern Bell for 24 years and for 5 years at the Hampton/ Brookdale senior living where his main job was the driver, but he wore many different hats. He was known as the singing driver.
Papaw loved to sing and even started a small karaoke business, where he performed for the residents throughout the different Brookdale communities in the Houston area and even loved to entertain at home for his family and neighborhood on his time off.
Bill was survived by his wife of 37 years, Betty. Sister Eileen Wheeldon Eisner and her husband Roger, sister-in-law Deanne Wheeldon. Children: Erin Ackerman, Daniel Adams, and his wife Kristen, Ian Ackerman, Courtney Neal and her husband Chris, and Stephanie Wheeldon. Grandchildren: Morgan and Ryleigh Adams, Olivia and Hannah Neal and Andrew Ackerman and numerous friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents Eda and Albert “Snooks” Wheeldon, and brother Albert “Bert” Wheeldon.
He’ll always be remembered as loving, kind, caring husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly.
