Betty D. Wilkinson

Betty Dean Wilkinson (Chezem) 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family on Sunday, December 19, 2010 in Sugarland, Texas. Betty was born October 27, 1921 in Dearing, Kansas, the eldest of three daughters born to Clyde N. and Beatrice E. Chezem.

Her family moved to Houston when she was two years old where she subsequently attended Park Place Elementary, Deady Jr. High and was a graduate of Milby Sr. High.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Harold R. Wilkinson Jr., and daughters Barbara E. Henderson and Marilyn Ponder.

She is survived by sisters Jane George and husband T.W. (Pinky), Austin, Texas and Madolyn Mills and husband Bill, Palacios, Texas. Also survived by son James Wilkinson and wife Cindy, one grand-daughter Heidi Samuell and husband John, grandsons Wesley Henderson Jr. and wife Rochelle, Jason Wilkinson, Evan Ponder, Cory Wilkinson and Clayton Wilkinson.

She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Betty’s family wishes to express thanks for outstanding support and loving care from the Atria-Sugarland, Compassus Hospice, and especially Dr. Michael F. Campbell, Methodist Hospital, and Betty’s private nurse and dearest friend Judy Davis.

Visitation will be held at Forest Park Lawndale at 11am followed by a funeral service at 1pm on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 with interment to follow.
