Betty was born on the 1st of April 1930, at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas, to Beatrice Segura and Victor Courtois. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, the 3rd of April 2023.
Betty grew up in Houston and attended Incarnate Word Academy from where she graduated in 1948. She was married to Joseph Bailey Westmoreland, Jr. from 1953 to 1963. Betty had a long, fulfilling career working for Gulf Oil Corporation and was a valued employee for 35 years. During that time, she also spent many hours as a night volunteer at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
Betty loved traveling the world with family and friends. She was an active member in her neighborhood “Good Timers” Club, Garden Club and Bridge Groups. Betty loved watching all sports, especially her hometown baseball team, the Astros. She was huge animal lover and had many special pets throughout her life. She was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church. Most importantly, she was a beloved sister to her brother Coy and sister-in-law Gena, and a very special aunt to her two nieces and her five grand nieces and nephews.
Betty is preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice Segura Lewis and her sister-in-law, Gena Dorsey Lewis. Betty is survived by her brother, Coy de Loire Lewis; nieces, Claire Lewis Boyles and her husband Dan, their children Fletcher, Julia and Wesley, and Tina Lewis Raia and her husband Nick, their children Allie and CC; special cousins, Irene Elsenbroich Cory and JoAnn Woodham Meyers; and best friend, Janelle Hill.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until seven o'clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 5th of April, in the library and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The family will gather for a private entombment at the Sunnyside Mausoleum of Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
