Betty June Welch departed her earthly home and arrived at her home in Heaven on May 16. Her husband and three children were at her bedside. She had fought a six month courageous battle with cancer.
Betty was born June 24, 1949 in Salt Lake City but grew up on a farm near Warner, Oklahoma. Her parents Scott and Ruby Parks preceded her in death.
She graduated valedictorian from her high school and obtained a BA in Education from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma.
Betty is survived by her husband David of nearly 42 years, by three children and their families including eight (nearly 9) grandchildren (Michael & Shana Welch with Nathaniel and Anna; James & Jodi Raymick with Callum, Cayden, Cole, Carson, and Cohen; Matt and Jen Waller with Emma and Ty (due in June),a sister (Tana Prussack) and brother (John David Parks), a beloved extended family, and many many dear friends.
Betty and family lived in several places during David's career with Conoco including Ponca City OK, Pittsburgh PA, Ridgefield CT, and Houston TX. Betty made great friends and was very active in church activities in each location they lived. She participated in and was a leader in Bible Study Fellowship in each location.
Betty's legacy is that she was a wonderful wife, that she taught and loved her children offering encouragement and praise throughout their lives, that she was the best grandparent (Gigi) ever, a wonderful friend to all family and friends. It has often been said that the room seemed to light up when she came into the room. She showed encouragement to everyone she came into contact with. The world is going to be a little sadder place with Betty gone.
