Betty Jean dedicated her life to serving Jesus. She welcomed each person she met with a smile, a sweet twinkle of her baby blues, and willingness to accept them as they were, without judgement. She truly represented “unconditional love”. Betty loved “adopting” everyone as her own. In her later years everyone would eventually refer to her as “Nannie” or “Nannie P”. Just as her granddaughter deemed her so many years ago. Nannie stayed current with the times as she wanted to always be involved and relevant. She knew, if she stayed current, she would certainly get the best details from her great grandsons. Oh how they loved their time with her and cherished cutting up with her over the day’s events.
Betty loved her family through all the highs and all the lows, always praying faithfully without ceasing. She represents the good in all of us and her legacy will live on forever.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl C. Powell; and parents, Esther Irene and “Tommy” Thompson.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Sherry Powel; her granddaughter, Nikki Guest and husband Emory; and her precious great grandsons, Colbert (“Cole”) Powell Guest and Anderson Emory Guest.
