Betty left school after the 7th grade and then married the man she shared 57 years of Holy Matrimony with, Dennis Nance, who preceded her in death on December 5, 2004. Betty was also preceded in death by her two sisters; Ima Nell Westbrook and Billy Ray Smithers.
Betty was a member of the East Houston Baptist Church. She worked briefly as a Bank Teller and then went on to be a Homemaker. Betty was proud of her many accomplishments as an Avon representative for 45 years. She was quite particular of her hair and was known to have a standing appointment every Thursday. Betty was a very strong willed woman who enjoyed quiet time at home watching the Houston Astros or visiting with friends.
Betty was very fond of flowers. The sunroom at her home displayed her love of flowers, as well as a collection of bird houses and tea pots.
Betty is survived by her three children; Gary Nance (Kathleen), Denise Nance Beltran (Richard) and Wayne Nance (Shannon), six grandchildren; Casey Nance (Emily) Corey Nance, Jessica West, Christel Nance, Melissa Peters (Derek) and Kara Aguirre (Carlos), five great-grandchildren; Lauren West, Audrey West, Brooklyn Beltran, Isabella Beltran and Ethan Peters.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and, special thanks goes to her long-time friend, Francisco Saucedo who is more like a son and part of the family.
Visitation will be held at Brookside Funeral Home on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 5-8 PM with Funeral service in the Grand Chapel at Brookside Funeral Home on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 3PM.
