She is survived by sons, Charles Dean Jackson, of Sugar Land and Randall (Randy) Carter Jackson, wife Tommi Miller Jackson, and grandson, Max Carter Jackson, of Robstown, sister, Jane Henson Russell, of Richmond, Texas, nieces Lisa Russell Roper, of Katy, Texas, and Debbie Russell, of Richmond, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lee Jackson, her parents, John Carter Henson and Elizabeth (Kerbow) Henson of Houston, Texas, and niece, Tamara Lee Russell, of Richmond, Texas.
Betty was born on September 25, 1937 in Houston, Texas. After graduating from Lamar High School she attended Texas Christian University and the University of Houston, where she received a degree in Education. Upon graduation, Betty took a job clerking for a Texas State Senator in Austin, where she met Howard, who was on the Texas Longhorn Football Team. They married in 1961.
Betty and Howard settled mainly in the Houston area but also lived in Waco, Pasadena, Tyler and Brownsville. She began a career in teaching in the Pasadena area at South Houston High School, where she taught for many years. Betty was a devoted mother to sons, Dean and Randy, and grandmother to Max. Betty and Howard maintained a second home in Robstown so that they could be close to their grandson Max. Her other passions included travel, true crime novels, and antiquing.
