She was born on the 28th of May 1923, in Houston, Texas, to Dorothy Weir Boyles and Daniel Fletcher Boyles, Jr. She graduated in the first class from Lamar High School and continued her education at National Park College in Forest Glen, Maryland, where she excelled as an equestrian and in the fine arts.
Betty returned to Texas and married the love of her life and husband of 64 years, Jack Donovan Isbell. They were life long members of Trinity Episcopal Church, and together they raised three exceptional sons, participating in their school activities and numerous sporting events. World travelers, Betty and Jack earned membership in the Travelers' Century Club by visiting 117 countries and every state in the U.S. She also enjoyed playing tennis and was a member of the Houston Racquet Club and Fondren Tennis Center, where she made dear friends and became part of the "Lunch Bunch" group.
Betty was an active member of the Daughters of American Revolution and The Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She, along with cherished life long friends from National Park College, worked together on the preservation of their school, which is now a historical landmark.
Betty was predeceased by her husband; her dear sons, Jack Donovan Isbell II and James Richard Isbell, and her parents. She is survived by her devoted, loving son, Howard Pearce Isbell and his wife, Marlene; daughters-in-law, Carol Patterson and Jean Isbell; precious grandchildren, Alisa Ahrens and her husband James, Jack Isbell, III and his wife Autumn, Courtney Nelson and her husband Slade, Christan Isbell, and Matthew Isbell; and adorable great-grandchildren, Hayden and Dylan Ahrens, Pearce and Olivia Isbell and Sloan and Everett Nelson.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 22nd of June, in the Library and Grand Foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The funeral service is to be conducted at half-past ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 23rd of June, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, where the Rev. Michael Roeske, Assistant Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, is to officiate.
Immediately following the service, the family is to gather for a private interment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
