Betty R. Followell

Betty Ruth Followell passed away of natural causes on January 13, 2013. She was surrounded by her family. Betty was born December 3, 1927 to Ida Mae and William Leon Moore and she was one of five children. She resided in Splendora, TX.

Her adult life as a stay-at-home mother was complemented with numerous community activities involving the church and music. At an early age, Betty taught herself to play the piano by ear and would readily accompany anyone with any song they could hum, sing, or whistle (as long as it was in the key of "C").

Later she learned to play the mandolin and continued playing gospel and country music to folks at nursing homes around Montgomery Co. A soprano, her singing pleased everyone she knew. She lived a quiet life and loved tending to her longtime home and garden in Splendora, Tx.

She is survived by her son, Chris Rich and wife Sandra; grandson, Gerald Rich; sister, Virginia Hunt; brother, Allen Moore and wife Norma; nieces and nephews, Melody Donaldson, Keith and Sheila Powell, Kenneth Hunt, Allen Moore, Jr., Gary and Susan Moore, Sherry Moore, Jim and Carol Kelley and many other nieces and nephews.
