Bettie Marie Dudley (Palich), 93, passed away on December 20, 2023, in Pearland, TX. She was born on June 19, 1930, in Dallas, Texas. Bettie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Bettie was an inspiration to all who knew her. She embodied the true spirit of a Texas girl, and her genuine character served as a model for others. She had a passion for painting, gardening, traveling and spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bettie is survived by her daughter, Claron Clark, and husband Matthew; her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Soukup; her brother, John W Palich, and wife Sandra; her grandsons, Timothy B Salter and Scott M Salter, and wife Monica; as well as her great-grandchildren, Presley Salter, William Salter, Charlotte Salter, and Penelope Salter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Soukup; her son, James B Soukup; her daughter, Vicki M Soukup; and her husband, Doug Dudley.
Bettie graduated from Waco High School in Waco, TX, in 1947. She furthered her education at Four-C Business Accounting College in Waco. Bettie began her career with the State Department of Public Welfare in Waco from September 1947 to 1952. She later moved to Houston, TX, in anticipation of welcoming her first child in October 1952. She worked nights at Central Freight Lines from 1955 to 1962. Bettie then embarked on a long and successful career with Puffer-Sweiven, where she worked from 1962 to 1992.
A funeral service honoring Bettie's life will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 10:30 am at Forest Park Funeral Home - Westheimer in Houston, Texas. Contributions in her memory can be made to New Hope Lutheran Church in Missouri City, Texas, or Alvin Lutheran Church in Alvin, Texas.
