Bettie was born in Quanah, TX on November 12, 1932 to Parents William M. Bailey and Bettie Penelope Garner Bailey. Bettie had three sisters and one brother: Mildred Lorene Knox Born 1923 (deceased), Cleo Maxine Bailey Born 1925 (deceased), James Eldon Bailey Born 1927 Age 93, and Francis Louise Bailey Born 1930 (deceased).
Bettie graduated from Bowie High School and attended Abilene Christian College for 2 years studying education.
She was married to Lindel Howard Dodson on August 16, 1952. After his passing in September 1981, she later married Jim Brown on November 18, 1989 who passed away in May 1997.
Bettie worked at the Texas Highway Department in the customer service department for approximately 18 years.
She was a member of several Church of Christ congregations in the Houston area including Garden Oaks, Northwest, and most recently Memorial Church of Christ.
Bettie had a passion for knitting, crochet, and painting.
She is survived by her son Lindel Howard Dodson Jr. and his wife Dawn; her daughter Elyndabeth Grav and her husband Richard, three grandchildren: Lindel Tyler Dodson and wife Ashley, Travis Hunter Dodson and wife Brooke and Justin Lee Grav and longtime girlfriend Christi. Bettie had 2 great grandchildren: Lindel Trip Dodson and Palmer Shaye Dodson.
