Benn Reed White was born in Inglewood, CA on February 12, 1948, to Mozelle Reed White and Benn Wesley White. He came to Texas before he was a year old and continued to live in Houston until 2020 when he moved to Huntsville, TX to be near family. Reed passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at the age of 74 after a four decade long battle with the complications of diabetes.
Reed graduated from Waltrip High School in 1966 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from Lamar University in Beaumont in 1971. He served as a medic in the Air Force Reserve for several years. He retired from Kellogg Brown & Root after 25 plus years where he worked and traveled to many foreign countries.
Reed was an avid outdoorsman - golfing, snow skiing, boating & water skiing, fishing & hunting.
Reed was predeceased by his wife of almost 25 years, Betty Blair White, and his parents. He is survived by his sisters Sandra McKaskle (D.V. "Red" McKaskle) and Kathi White; his nieces Nicole Williams and Erin Dubcak (Ross); brother-in-law David Blair (Darlene) and Ed Blair (Marolyn); step daughter Jennifer McLeod; several other nephews, nieces, and great nephews. He also leaves behind a host of first cousins who were a big part of his life.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 17th, 2022 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079.
