Belinda Goode White

Belinda was born on June 23, 1951 and was a cherished wife, loving grandmother, and devoted friend. Born as the younger twin of Edward and Ernestine Goode, Belinda grew up in the South Ward of Newark, NJ.

Belinda's education included Cleveland Elementary, West Kinny Junior High, South Side High, and Rutgers University, where she earned degrees in Sociology and Library Science. She worked as a librarian at Malcolm X Shabazz High School and later at Millburn High School, retiring in 2010. Additionally, she contributed to the National Association of University Women – North Jersey Branch for 19 years, serving on committees and as financial secretary. Her dedication to education and community is widely remembered.

One of Belinda’s greatest joys came from her 28-year marriage to James (Jim) White, with whom she shared a deeply loving and supportive partnership. Together, they built a life rich in mutual respect and affection. She and Jim eventually moved to Texas, where Belinda’s heart was captivated by her role as Nana to Joseph and Ryan Concepcion. Her involvement in their daily lives, from volunteering at their school library to celebrating every milestone, was a testament to her profound love and dedication.

Belinda's warm spirit also extended to her community and social circles, where she was actively involved in various groups, including the Friends of Distinction in Parlin, NJ, and a book club in The Woodlands, TX.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Ernestine Goode. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Jim White; stepdaughters Deborah Concepcion (Jose) and Barbara White; grandchildren Ryan and Joseph Concepcion; her twin sister Brenda Way (Bill); and her niece and nephew, Ayana and Kerel Way, along with many cherished relatives and friends. Belinda’s legacy of love and dedication will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life for Belinda will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home - Champions, 3410 Cypress Creek Parkway, Houston, Texas 77068.
