Betty Welle, longtime Houston resident, born January 13, 1917 in Grimes County, died July 24, 2016 at the age of 99. A devout Catholic, she attended St. Theresa Catholic Church for over 60 years. Betty belonged to The St. Theresa Women’s Club and Altar Society and made lots of cakes and pies for Bingo night. She loved her church and all the ladies that she worked with over all the years. Born in the area of Anderson/Stoneham, Texas. As a child, she attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stoneham, Texas, by horse and buggy. Moved to Houston in her 20’s and worked during WWII as one of the “Rosie the Riveters”. She met her husband, Monroe, after the war at Star Engraving Company. They married in 1946. She was known as a devoted wife and mother. Four children: Martha Louise Welle (Hartell), Thomas Nelson Welle, Philip Earl Welle, and Barbara Ann Welle (Kremenezky).
Predeceased by Martha, Thomas and Philip and her husband, Monroe. Also predeceased by grandson Bryan Hartell and son-in-law Alex Kremenezky. Betty was also predeceased by all nine brothers and sister Joe, Charles, Lee, Johnny, Harold, Martha, Cecilia, Blanche and Helen.
Survived by her daughter Barbara Ann Welle (Kremenezky), granddaughter Alexis Barbara Kremenezky; Son-in-law Philip Hartell, granddaughter Kristie Lynn Hartell Rios and husband Tony, great granddaughter Shelby Rios Munoz and husband Richie, great-great grandson Landon Parker Rios; Daughter-in-law Christi Welle, grandson Dustin Welle and wife Aimee with great granddaughter Paytyn Ruby Welle; Grandson Thomas Welle and granddaughter Robin Welle. Betty leaves one brother-in-law, Leon Billimek, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces.
