Barbara J Sowell

Barbara Jane Parker Sowell, age 67, passed away in Kingwood, Texas on June 26, 2013. She was born September 20, 1945 in Houston, Texas and attended Smiley High School. During her lifetime, Barbara helped run family rental business and raise a family. Then she worked for Wal-Mart for 14 years. She was a "People Person" who never met a stranger. She loved to crochet and do crafts in her spare time. Barbara was very committed to providing for her family through the good times as well as through the bad times. She was married to Kaylon Leon Sowell for 50 years. She was preceded in death by parents: George Lloyd Parker and Susie Vivian Nelson Parker. Barbara is survived by: Husband, Kaylon Leon Sowell; Sons: Tearle Leon Sowell and wife Rhonda of Tarkington Prairie, Texas, Kelvin Wayne Sowell of Plum Grove, Texas, Kaylon Leon Sowell II of Plum Grove, Texas; Daughter: Cherie Jane Sowell Beltram and husband Scott of New Caney, Texas; Sister, Vicki Janel Parker of New Caney, Texas; Brother, Jesse Norman Parker and wife Sue of Willis, Texas; Granddaughters: Kristina "Leigh" Thompson, Deidra Marie Sowell, Kristen Amber Sowell-Ortiz and husband Chance, Marsha Jean Sowell, Jessica Rene Sowell, and Kennedy Sloan Beltram; Grandsons: Kelvin Wayne Sowell Jr. and wife Jessica, Kaylon Leon Sowell III, and Justin Tearle Sowell; Great Grandsons: Landon Ortiz, Braydon Ortiz, and Kolton Wayne Sowell; and many other relatives & friends. Barbara will be greatly missed by all. Yes, Barbara knew the Lord God in Heaven and was baptized at The Lakewood United Pentecostal Church on East Houston St. in 1969.Visitation will be from 4-8PM on Friday, June 28th. Funeral service will be held at 10AM on Saturday, June 29th, at Brookside Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sowell Cemetery in Norwood, TX (San Augustine, Texas).
