Barbara was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on March 11, 1943, and was the only child of Reavis and Frances Nick. Being an only child meant she loved her many cousins on both sides of the family, and was close to them throughout her life. She graduated from Westchester High School in California, and attended Texas Lutheran College before marrying the love of her life, David Lloyd Ray. They were married at Faith Lutheran Church in Bellaire Texas, and she remained a faithful and active member there her entire life.
Barbara was a fulltime homemaker, devoted to her daughters and their activities. From being an active volunteer at Emerson Elementary, to running Girl Scout troops, driving to ballet lessons, or watching swim meets, Barbara stayed involved. She was happiest when crafting, gardening, attending her church circle meetings or being with family. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1967, she never stopped trying to outrun and outsmart the disease. She was strong and determined to live life to the full regardless of the obstacles she faced along the way.
Barbara is predeceased by her parents, and her daughter Pamela Renee Floch. She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, David; daughter Robin Michelle Lamb and husband Chris, and grandsons Zack Lamb, Eli Lamb, Cooper Lamb and Cody Lane Floch; one great granddaughter Tully Renee Floch; her nephew and nieces in Idaho, and many cousins and their families.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis society, Faith Lutheran Church in Bellaire, or a charity of your choice.
