Barbara Kaye Lewis, 67, a disciple of Jesus Christ, came as “gift” to Robert (Bobby) Williams and Ora D. Pittman on September 19, 1949, in College Station, Texas. She departed this life, after a brief illness, on Monday, March 13, 2017. She graduated from E.A. Kemp High School, Bryan, TX, attended Paul Quinn College in Waco, TX, finally earning a business certificate from MacKenzie Baldwin Business School. She came to faith in Jesus Christ during her early years at Clayton Baptist Church, College Station, Texas. She later recommitted her life in September 1976 at the Somerville/Bryan Church of God—a decision she lived into until death. Along her journey of faith, she valued memberships in the following congregations: Bryan Church of God, South Park Church of God, First Church of God (Raleigh, NC), and the Sherman Street Church of God, where she participated faithfully until death. She was married to James W. Lewis on October 7, 1972 in College Station, Texas. To this union were born two daughters. An older son was grafted into this union prior to their marriage. They were blessed to be married over 44 years. Barbara Kaye was known for the love she gave to her family and friends. She often had to be reminded that she too had extraordinary gifts, in her haste to care for her husband, daughters, and granddaughters. She was dutiful in her obligations and found peace in life’s simple pleasures. In her life, in addition to walking faithfully with her husband in ministry, she loved sewing for the children, assembling toys and furniture without overlooking any part, moving furniture from place to place, conceiving and implementing decorating ideas, and demonstrating compassion for the least among us—especially abused children and pets. She is survived by her husband, James Wilton Lewis; two daughters and a son-in-law, Andrea Nicole Streaty (Jason), Anderson, IN, and Kimberli Chantrelle Lewis, Fishers, IN.; Three grandchildren, N’Taija Ameris Joy Patterson-Lewis, Nya Simone Streaty, and Jayson Streaty; Sister, Deborah Ann Grier (Paul), Six brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Ora D. Waldon, maternal/paternal grandparents, Isaac and Rosa Pittman and John and Laura Waldon, mother-in-law, Betty Joyce Brown, father-in-law, John J.R. Lewis, son, Timothy Eric Waldon, brother, Thomas Andrew Waldon, and sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Lewis Hollins.
