Barbara Bernice Davis was born in Grand Cane, Louisiana on November 25, 1946, to her parents Porter & Jessie Wilson. She was the 3rd of 5 children. Barbara was affectionately known to her family and friends as “Shorty”. Barbara begin her education when her family moved from Grand Cane, Louisiana to Houston, Texas. At the age of 5 Barbara begin attending Crawford Elementary, she also attended E.O Smith Middle school. Barbara attended Phyllis Wheatley High School where she met and wed the love of her life Joseph Eugene Davis. To this union 2 children were born LaRhonda R. Davis and Reginald W. Davis. Barbara pursued a career in the medical field and obtained her EKG certification. She became an employee of the St. Joseph Hospital Health Care System for 34 years where she also retired. Barbara became a grandmother in 1987 welcoming her 1st grandchild, ShaTavia, & Ray’Chail in 1994. She became a great grandmother to Keon and Kennedi Hall whom affectionately called her "Maw-Maw. Barbara was a dedicated and loving mother,an outstanding grandmother, and a terrific great-grandmother. Barbara loved to cook, spend time with her family, and enjoyed traveling and casual outings with family and friends. She was known for her famous "Gumbo" and fresh snapped green beans. Barbara was an animal lover and she had 2 pets named "June and "Bull" whom she loved and adored. She was a faithful, active and dedicated member at Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed her, up under the leadership of Reverend F.D. Anderson. Barbara entered eternal life and earned her wings on Thursday, August 29th, 2019 in the comfort of her own home. She is preceded in death by her father Porter Wilson, her mother Jessie Wilson, her sister Lelia Ervin, her sister Shirley Wilson, belated husband Joseph Eugene Davis, and daughter La’Rhonda Davis. She leaves to cherish her memories: 3 loving aunts, Elanor Gaston, Carrie Roberts & Druzella Moham, one uncle William Moham, her loving sister Porter Oliver, her loving brother Charles Wilson (Brenda), her son, Reginald Davis, her 2 grand daughters, ShaTavia & Raychail Davis, 2 great-grandchildren, Keon and Kennedi Hall, and a host of nieces and nephews, God children (Herman Cormeir, James Jones), family and friends.
