Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Louis A. Pontello, Jr., Josephine Emmite Pontello and her stepmother, Lillie Spedale Pontello.
Barbara is survived by her husband, David L Cook, Jr., her children, Court Conaway, Paige Kinnett, Blake Conaway; her two sisters, Diane Boyd and husband, Dennis; and Susan Bowman and husband, Henry; her "honorary" sister, Dorothy Serna and her husband, Ted; her stepson, Carter Cook; her grandchildren, Cash Kinnett, DeClan Cook, Scarlett Cook; her nephew, Brett Berly and wife Dawn; Blair Bowman, Brian Serna; Zane Berly; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Barbara was born in Houston, Texas on July 23, 1949 and grew up in the Memorial Area of Houston and attended St. Agnes Academy where she graduated in 1967. She then attended Sam Houston State University and later became the long-time award winning sales manager with the Houstonian, Hotel, Club and Spa.
Barbara was an honored and valued member of both the Bluebird Circle and the prestigious Donne di Domani charitable organization. Her most treasured moments were those that she spent with her family members particularly during the holidays and during her annual family trips to New Orleans where she enjoyed eating crawfish, and blue crabs, and shopping her way through the French Quarter.
Barbara made sure that her friends and loved ones knew that she cared deeply for them by constantly reaching out to them with her generosity and acts of kindness. Barbara touched the hearts of so very many people and she will truly be missed by all who had the honor and good fortune to have known her.
There will be a visitation at Earthman Hunters Creek Funeral Home located at 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024 between the hours of 6-8:00 PM during which a Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM.
A funeral service and Mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham located at 7809 Shadyvilla Lane, Houston, TX 77055 beginning at 9:30am.
Burial services will follow thereafter at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077.
